Life as we know it has been turned upside-down for the foreseeable future. We are encouraged to social distance ourselves and stay home in order to do our part to flatten the curve of this devastating pandemic. During this time, many find themselves bored, unsure of what to do to entertain themselves, and looking for things to do while in self-isolation.
Thinking of selling in the near future? What better way to keep yourself occupied than organize, de-clutter and get your home in pristine shape to hit the market! Not often do we have time on our hands to get everything on our ‘House To-Do List’. There is no time like the present! Here are 5 ways to get your home in tip-top shape to sell, all while being stuck in self-isolation:
Organize Closet/Donate
With Spring quickly approaching, it’s time to go through all of our warmer clothes that we haven’t touched all winter long! Organizing your closet not only frees up space for new spring clothes you’ve had your eye on, but gives you the opportunity to get rid of clothes you haven’t worn in years. Ensure to Donate all unwanted clothes to local shelters and
Clean out Garage
Instead of getting rid of stuff, we dump all of our misalliances things into the garage to deal with later. Now is the time! Make it a family project! Separate Items into 4 piles: Keep, Donate, Sell, & Toss.
Landscaping/Patio Furniture
Warm weather is coming, which means it’s the perfect time to bring out the patio furniture and spruce up your flower beds. Get some fresh air, and enjoy some time outside with family. Landscaping and patio décor is a great way to add some colour and life to your backyard or front porch. Create a warm and inviting environment for others by cleaning up leaves, sweeping the porch and adding some colourful cushions.
Spring Clean
Self-Isolation is the perfect opportunity to give your home the deep clean we all know it needs. Create a checklist and tackle one room at a time. A good deep clean goes a long way. Make sure to de-clutter and organize all your drawers while you’re at it! Don’t forget to clean your screens/windows, light bulbs, around light switches, inside and outside of cupboards!
Improve your Curb Appeal
The outside of your home is the first thing prospective buyers look at before entering your house. It is important to create a warm and inviting environment. Dress up your front door/garage – add a fresh coat of paint, polish or replace old door fixtures. Add a seasonal planter or greenery! Replace or clean gutters and downspouts.
